Located in the Centre for Commerce building, the Selma & Dallas County Economic Development Authority (The EDA) works to attract new industrial opportunities, assist in the expansion of existing businessess, enhance work force development, and improve quaity of life. The mission of The EDA is to attract new industrial employers to the area, to retain and expand existing industrial employers, and to be a catalyst for workforce development.
The EDA was established in 1985 in an effort to consolidate and coordinate economic development efforts in both the City of Selma and Dallas County, Alabama. The EDA is incorporated as a not-for-profit corporation, 501c6, governed by an eighteen-member board of directors. County and City goverments, businesses, and private investors continue to fund The EDA in four-year increments. Every 48 months, The EDA evaluates and resets objectives, plans, strategies, and financial requirements to address current economic and workforce issues and needs.
